yep, that's right. sunday night the flakes started falling and we woke up to a 6-inch blanket of the loveliest snow. we were off work for a few days, spent a lot of time sledding, playing board games, sipping hot cocoa.. and most of all, enjoying the excuse to be together :).

while it snowed 6inches in nc on christmas day, we went to sunny jax beach for the afternoon! definitely a first for me. we had a beautiful time with all of the hardee's :: so thankful for a week off from work and lots of sweet time together.

I saw this film called The Candy Shop at the Fox Theater last night.

It was distubing to say the least.

The film is a Fairytale/Parable about the child sex trafficking epidemic that has overrun the city of Atlanta.

Up to 500 underaged girls a month are trafficked for sex in the city of Atlanta. It’s the number one city in the country for child sex trafficking; the 10th in the world.

(if you look really closely at the photo above, you'll see that the daddy gorilla (far right) is holding his 5 month-old baby. this is the coolest thing to me b/c we originally thought it was the mom nursing the baby. after careful inspection, i realized it was actually the dad (his silver back and large stature) which is amazing b/c the zookeeper told us that the males never have contact with their children, especially the little ones. it is solely the mother who nurtures. isn't that the most wonderful surprise?)

chelsea & cole were married on sunday, october 3rd at bradley's retreat in tallahassee. it was a gorgeous fall day and their ceremony was so simple, sweet, and pure (just like them). we are incredibly blessed by their friendship and for being able to share this beautiful day with them!

so, i was really hoping to make it one whole year of taking a picture everyday. unfortunately, i am just shy of my goal. on the 16th, i started feeling pretty terrible. was in and out of the ER twice that week dealing with intense chest pain and trouble breathing. i have literally been in the house for two weeks straight, so in some ways, this picture accurately describes the past 12 days of my life. after a series of doctor visits and lots of meds, they have diagnosed me with Costochondritis (inflammation of where the upper ribs join with the breastbone) and reflux gastro-esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagaus). i am finally feeling a little bit like myself again.. praise the Lord.

all that to say: i think i'm going to start doing a picture or two a week from here on out. so, no longer a photo a day; more like a photo a week. honestly, once a day was hard. very hard. some days i have a million photos i could post, and other days are just completely non-eventful. i guess that's the joy in it all, though: to find beauty in the mundane things.

thanks to those of you who actually enjoy this photo-blog, but more than anything - i am just thankful to have what i set out to do :: a way to document our days and serve as a reminder of all that the Lord has done in our lives.

the lovely linds and rich... we love them SO much.
the rehearsal dinner was beautiful. i told them this in my toast, but i am just so thankful for my many years of friendship with linds. we've experienced a lot together: the many joys of middle school, high school, and college... and the best part is, it really has just brought us closer. she has been such a steadfast and faithful friend that has loved me through it all. and of course, there's the dominican ... where the Lord really united and grew our friendship in many ways through our relationship with the oviedo's. i've loved watching her walk into this new season with richard - and i have seen him bring out a joy in her that i hadn't seen in her before. i am also so thankful for the bond that the Lord has created with rich and ty, and therefore, the four of us. i know this will mean many more memories with our own families in the years to come :).

so glad to have chels and cole in atlanta... and for summer days filled with lounging by the pool, consignment shopping, and trying new recipes :). it's my new fav dish, so i thought i'd share:

Creamy Fettuccine with Chicken, Corn, & Arugula

12 oz fettuccine

2 T olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

salt and pepper, to taste

1 c white corn kernels

1/2 c dry white wine

3/4 c heavy cream

2 c baby arugula

1/4 c grated parmesean cheese

-Cook chicken in skillet (using 1 T olive oil) while cooking pasta, according to pkg directions.

-Heat remaining oil in large skillet. Add: garlic, salt and pepper. Add corn and white wine. Simmer until corn is tender.

-Add pasta. Season. Fold in arugula. Add chicken.

-Top with parmesean cheese.
